About Powerman 5000
The American rock band Powerman 5000 (also known as PM5K) formed in 1991 and has released ten albums. Its highest level of commercial success was achieved with 1999’s Tonight the Stars Revolt!, which spawned the singles “When Worlds Collide” and “Nobody’s Real” and reached number 29 on the Billboard 200. In addition, they also appeared in an episode of Beverly Hills 90201. Moreover, in 1996, the band performed on the second stage of Ozzfest, and in 1997, they were on the mainstage. Additionally, frontman Spider One, younger brother of Rob Zombie, has been the only consistent member of the lineup.
In June 2017, the band revealed that the title of their 11th album would be “New Wave.” They released the album on October 27, 2017. Moreover, they also put out the music video for the single “Sid Vicious in a Dress” by September 5. To support the album, the band began touring in the U.S. from October to the end of 2018.
On June 4, 2018, the band announced that they would take part in the “Summer of Screams” Tour in September, along with Mushroomhead and The Browning. However, on August 23, it was announced that the band had to cancel their performances for the tour due to medical reasons involving Spider’s vocals.
In March 2020, Cleopatra Records announced that they had signed the band (who had previously released the cover album Copies, Clones & Replicants), with their new album titled “The Noble Rot” set to release on August 28. The lead single “Black Lipstick” was released on June 3, and a video for the song directed by Spider One was released on the same day. The band planned to tour overseas in support of the album.
