METALLICA posts professional video of ‘Orion’ performance in on August 18 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas as part of the ‘M72’ Tour.

Last month, METALLICA held a two-night residency at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and live-streamed it to cinemas worldwide. This marked their first appearance in Texas since November 2021 when they performed at Globe Life Field during a Triad Combat event.

As previously reported, METALLICA had to reschedule their show in Arizona on September 3 due to frontman James Hetfield testing positive for COVID. This concert is part of their two-year “M72” global tour and is now scheduled for Saturday, September 9.

Earlier, during their performance at State Farm Stadium on September 1, Hetfield experienced vocal issues, which led to the show being cut short by two songs. Watch footage of METALLICA performing the song “Orion” on August 18 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas below:

On August 25, METALLICA drew an impressive crowd of nearly 80,000 fans at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles during the first of their two shows at the venue. This was a historic moment, as it marked the largest attendance in the stadium’s history since its opening in September 2020. The band repeated this feat on Sunday, August 27, drawing another massive audience.

Fans showed their enthusiasm by purchasing over 156,000 tickets for the two concerts, which are part of METALLICA’s “M72” world tour. This tour features a unique in-the-round stage design that places the iconic METALLICA Snake Pit at the center, allowing for increased ticket sales. The stage’s hollow center also offers additional space for fans.

Billboard reported that METALLICA’s ring-shaped stage includes eight towers of monitors and speakers, each anchored by a raised platform serving as VIP seating. These platforms feature eight folding chairs adorned with the black-and-yellow color scheme of the band’s new album, “72 Seasons.”

In comparison, Taylor Swift’s recent six-night run at SoFi Stadium drew 420,000 ticket-holders, with over 70,000 attendees at each show.

The “M72” tour kicked off in late April in Amsterdam and allocates a portion of its proceeds to METALLICA’s All Within My Hands foundation. This foundation’s mission is to support and improve the lives of communities that have backed the band, addressing issues like food insecurity, disaster relief, and scholarships.

The logistics of METALLICA’s production are substantial, with 87 trucks involved—45 for the band and its setup, plus two groups of 21 trucks each for the steel stage and towers. The band’s crew comprises 130 members, along with 40 steelworkers, local hires, and truck drivers.

According to METALLICA’s manager Cliff Burnstein, a significant majority of fans attend both shows, with attendance ranging from 80% to 90% for each concert.
