CARTILAGE: San Francisco Gore Metal Crew Drops “The Deader The Better” Video Featuring Members Of Impaled, Exhumed, And More; New LP Sees Release Through Creator-Destructor Records This Week

Watch CARTILAGE’s “The Deader The Better” below:

With the release of their second LP, The Deader The Better, nearing release next week through Creator-Destructor Records, San Francisco gore metal crew CARTILAGE drops a new video for the title track, featuring guests from Impaled, Ghoul, and more.

The Deader The Better was recorded by Alejandro Corredor (Pounder, ex-Nausea) in January 2020 at Darker Corners Studio in San Luis Obispo. The album all at once features friends, peers, and gore metal grandmasters, with guest vocals by Matt Harvey (Exhumed, Gruesome) who also helped produce the album, Ross Sewage (Impaled, Exhumed), Sean McGrath (Impaled), guest vocals and guitar solo from Leon del Muerte (Murder Construct, Terrorizer LA), and a guest solo from Tom Draper (Pounder, ex-Carcass), sharpening CARTILAGE’s hemorrhaging stabs of grind for the masses. The Deader The Better is completed with cover art by Matt Slime, and includes a cover of Impetigo’s “Boneyard.”

Filmed and directed by Nikko DeLuna, the hilarious poser-disposing crime investigation-style video features the five members of CARTILAGE as well as Sean McGrath (Impaled, Ghoul) and Ross Sewage (Impaled, Exhumed), as well as narration by Alex Wolf. The band offers, "A murder, a mystery, and a team of people coming together to solve it… Our third and final single ‘The Deader The Better.’ Featuring guest vocals and music video appearances by Sean McGrath (Impaled) and Ross Sewage (Impaled, Exhumed). Will they find the murderer before he kills again?"

Creator-Destructor will release The Deader The Better on LP – 200 on Doublemint/Purple Swirl, 200 on Bone w/ Blood Red Splatter, and 100 on Mustard w/ Magenta Splatter – as well as cassette and digital formats on May 13th. Find preorders at the label webshop HERE and Bandcamp where “Cellar Full Of Stiffs” and “I Skin You” are streaming HERE.

CARTILAGE has announced a run of California shows, playing San Francisco, Long Beach, and Santa Cruz May 20th through 22nd. The band will also perform at Northwest Terror Fest in Seattle June 30th through July 2nd, joining Ludicra, Repulsion, Suffocation, Acephalix, Panopticon, and many others. Whether you call them deathgrind, goregrind, or gore metal, some things are certain: the Bay Area’s CARTILAGE bleeds in blastbeats, rips out gut-twisting riffs, and spews idiomatic viscera with delight. Spawned from original members featuring sibling duo, guitarist/vocalist Ria and vocalist Mark Wallace along with guitarist Michael Flory (Logistic Slaughter) and drummer Adam Houmam (Terrorizer LA), came one that delighted in the flesh-searing death metal that the likes of Impaled and General Surgery claim as their own.

In 2019, the band added bassist Kienan Hamilton to their ranks and has held the low-end buzz since. Not content to rest on their blood-soaked laurels, CARTILAGE wrote, recorded, and independently released the Gore-Met EP as the morbid darkness of 2020 ended. And now, the quintet is primed and ready to unleash their second LP The Deader The Better via Creator-Destructor Records.

(Riverside, California – May 4, 2022) – SUICIDE SILENCE releases new song “Thinking In Tongues” today. The song is currently available on all digital platforms and the video clip, which was directed by Vicente Cordero for Industrialism Films, will premiere today, 5/4/22, at 7pm CET/1pm ET/10am PT:

“This song derives from the chaotic feeling of losing one's mind”, says the band about “Thinking  In Tongues”. “Feeling like you're choking on every breath you take until you eventually break. Debilitating confusion sets in and your mind begins ‘Thinking in Tongues’; essentially processing thoughts that not even you yourself can understand. In a sense, this song evokes the ultimate sense of helplessness.”

“Thinking In Tongues” is drummer Alex Lopez’s final studio performance, the band adds, "SUICIDE SILENCE and our long-time drummer, Alex Lopez, have mutually agreed to part ways. We wish him nothing but the best moving forward and encourage you all to follow his future endeavors in both music and visual arts. Our good friend, Ernie Iniguez (who recorded drums on ‘Become The Hunter’) will be drumming with us on the upcoming ‘Chaos & Carnage Tour’ and European festival run.”

SUICIDE SILENCE have come full circle and returned to their original label home, Century Media Records. With nearly two decades of non-stop touring around the globe, hundreds of thousands of records sold and cementing themselves as a lynchpin band in modern extreme metal, the Riverside, California quintet has rejoined the label that released the highly acclaimed albums: The Cleansing (2007), No Time To Bleed (2009) and The Black Crown (2011).

Matty Mullins (vocals), Kellen McGregor (guitar), Cory Elder (bass), and Jake Garland (drums) — have shared "Only Human" from their upcoming seventh album Remade in Misery.

The explosively rhythmic track features guest vocals from Fire From the Gods' AJ Channer, who bounces lyrics off Mullins for a double dose of ferocity.

Watch the visualizer below:

"'Only Human' is one of my personal favorites off the new record," explains Mullins. "AJ Channer is the only guest vocalist on the new album and we couldn't be more stoked to have him on this one. He's a vocal powerhouse and really took this tune to the next level.

"Each song drop from Remade in Misery thus far has had a philanthropic element and has been accompanied by a piece of charity-driven merch is available at the band's online store. For "Only Human," proceeds from the t-shirt will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services, and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001. The charity was selected by Channer.

Remade in Misery arrives on June 3 via longtime label Rise Records. Pre-order it here.
